My work attempts to fill a deeply human need to imbue objects, especially small objects we can hold, with profound significance to help us process the parts of reality we experience internally. A figure to ward off misfortune, attract love, increase fertility, honor traditions, inspire virtues, or simply a vessel to channel your prayers and meditations. My work aims to bridge the gap from ancient forms to contemporary sculpture while retaining the intimate sensation figurines can bring out in a viewer.
Santi Saucedo is a ceramic artist from Atlanta, Georgia, known for his contemporary spiritual figurines and experimental glazes. Saucedo’s work draws inspiration from his Mexican heritage to create pieces that evoke a sense of intimate connection and introspection. His innovative homemade glazes create unique textures and colors, providing a striking contrast to his smooth, referential ancient forms. Saucedo’s pieces have been exhibited throughout the Southeast and continue to garner attention for their captivating beauty and spiritual resonance.
