What is H3ARD

H3ARD turns your iPhone into a pocket-sized ear for perfect pitch.

Record any sound, then drag across the waveform to instantly reveal the musical note and exact frequency of any moment — no musical training required. Built for musicians, students, and the endlessly curious.

Features

How to Use

  1. Tap REC and allow microphone access. A short countdown starts, then H3ARD records.
  2. Tap REC again to stop. Your recording appears as a waveform.
  3. Drag the ◀ ▶ handles to highlight a section. The note and frequency update instantly.
  4. Pinch to zoom in for finer selections; use the scroll bar to move through longer takes.
  5. Tap PLAY to loop the highlighted section, or DEL to clear and start over.

Data & Privacy

H3ARD runs entirely on your device. Audio you record is analyzed right on your iPhone to detect its pitch and musical note — no recording is ever sent anywhere.

Recordings live only in memory while the app is open. They are never written to permanent storage, uploaded to a server, or shared with anyone. Deleting a recording, starting a new one, or closing the app clears the audio immediately.

H3ARD makes no network connections and includes no analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party services. The microphone is used only while you are actively recording.

In short: nothing you record leaves your device.

Frequently Asked

Why does H3ARD need microphone access?

The microphone is how H3ARD captures the sound you want to analyze. It is used only while you are actively recording, and the audio is never stored or transmitted.

Where are my recordings saved?

They aren't. Recordings exist only in memory while the app is open and are cleared as soon as you delete them, record again, or close the app.

How accurate is the note detection?

H3ARD is tuned for clear, single-note (monophonic) sounds using A4 = 440 Hz. Chords, heavy background noise, or very short sounds can reduce accuracy, since only one pitch is reported at a time.

Does H3ARD work without an internet connection?

Yes. H3ARD works fully offline — it never connects to the internet.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone running iOS 18 or later. H3ARD is designed for landscape orientation.
